Cynthia E. Hicks Johnson Doctor of Ministry (D.O.M.), Pastoral Counseling

At the age of eighteen, Dr. Johnson enlisted in the United States Army, where she faithfully served for twenty years before retiring in 2009 as a First Sergeant (E-8). During her distinguished military career, she served in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Panama, and South Korea, as well as at Fort Drum, New York; the Pentagon; Fort Riley, Kansas; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The Army instilled in her the values of discipline, servant leadership, integrity, and excellence—qualities that continue to shape her ministry today.

While serving in the military, Dr. Johnson remained committed to lifelong learning. She earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Central Texas College; a Bachelor of Arts in Transportation and Logistics Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from American Military University; a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling (Marriage and Family) from Liberty University; an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Care and Education from American Military University; and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Dr. Johnson's ministry journey began in 2001 while stationed in Daegu, South Korea, where she attended the Camp Walker Collective Protestant Gospel Service. During this season, she served in numerous ministry areas, including the Usher Ministry, Choir, Hospitality Ministry, Praise and Worship Team, Youth Ministry, Sunday School, and Christian education. These experiences provided a strong biblical and practical foundation for the work God would later entrust to her.

In 2004, she was ordained as a Minister, followed by ordination as an Evangelist in 2005. As she continued seeking God's direction, the Lord deepened her understanding of His calling upon her life through the study of Jeremiah chapters 1–3. In 2011, she was licensed in prophetic ministry, and in 2016 she was ordained as a Pastor. Today, she continues to faithfully serve in the Office of the Prophet as the Lord leads.

Over the years, Dr. Johnson has completed extensive biblical and ministry training in areas including prophetic ministry, church administration, church governance, leadership development, spiritual gifts, discernment, and biblical counseling. She remains committed to the daily study of God's Word and continual personal and spiritual growth.

As Founder and Pastor of Destiny Ministries, Dr. Johnson is committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching sound doctrine, making disciples, and strengthening believers through biblical teaching, mentoring, counseling, and servant leadership. She ministers at churches, conferences, leadership gatherings, community events, and wherever the Lord provides opportunities to serve.

Recognizing the need for biblically grounded ministry education, Dr. Johnson founded Destiny Institute, the educational and leadership development arm of Destiny Ministries. Through the Equipped to Serve Series, Destiny Institute provides structured biblical education and ministry training designed to develop spiritually mature disciples, equip servant leaders, strengthen churches, and prepare believers to fulfill God's purpose in every area of life.

Dr. Johnson is also a published author whose writings encourage healing, spiritual growth, discernment, and practical Christian living. Her published works include:

  • The Other Side of Through — A collection of inspirational poetry encouraging readers through life's challenges while pointing them toward hope in Christ.

  • Daddy's Daughters: The Importance of Father–Daughter Relationships — A biblical and practical examination of the influence fathers have upon the emotional and spiritual development of daughters.

  • Prophetic Survival Guide: Navigating Compromise in the House of God Without Losing Your Peace — A practical guide to maintaining biblical discernment, integrity, and spiritual peace while navigating difficult ministry environments.

  • Keys to Life Series — A collection of practical biblical teachings designed to help individuals apply God's Word to everyday life.

She is currently developing additional volumes in the Keys to Life Series, the Equipped to Serve Series curriculum for Destiny Institute, and her devotional series, From My Desk to You: Daily Devotional.

Dr. Johnson's ministry is built upon the conviction that lasting transformation begins with God's Word. Her passion is to see believers firmly grounded in biblical truth, spiritually mature, equipped for ministry, and empowered to fulfill the destiny God has prepared for them.

Her life and ministry continue to be guided by Philippians 3:13–14, Matthew 6:33, and Proverbs 4:7, reminding her to press toward the high calling of God, seek first His Kingdom, and pursue wisdom above all else.

Her prayer remains simple: "Lord, if You can use anything, use me to exhort, comfort, and encourage the Body of Christ."
